The Q.E.D. Alcohol Saliva Screen is a technologically advanced screening device that can be used as an accurate, quantitative measurement device for obtaining blood alcohol levels using a saliva sample. The Q.E.D. A150 saliva alcohol screen can reliably be used in place of blood, urine, or breath screening methods which require expensive equipment and operator training. Through a preset chemical reactive process that requires no user intervention, a color bar rises to the level of alcohol present in the system in much the same way as a mercury thermometer. In the united states, drug and alcohol abuse costs our country over 100 Billion a year! Random alcohol screening is a proven method in maintaining a more alcohol free workplace. The Q.E.D. Oral Saliva Screen kit comes in a box of 10 screens, and has a shelf life of 1 year. Let Q.E.D. alcohol screen change your workplace by keeping costs low and accidents less frequent. On-Site Simplicity with Clinical Lab Accuracy. In clinical trials, alcohol saliva screen levels measured by the Q.E.D. Oral Saliva Screen demonstrated high correlation to blood analyzed by gas chromatography. The Q.E.D. alcohol saliva screen has a quantitative range of 0 - 145 mg/dL (0.0% - 0.145% BAC).
The Q.E.D. Oral Saliva Screen measures the amount of alcohol in bodily fluids, commonly called blood-alcohol concentration, or BAC. Residual alcohol in the mouth just after a person takes a drink is quickly absorbed, swallowed, or evaporated, and a person's mouth is clear of residuals 10 minutes after eating or drinking. Q.E.D. alcohol saliva screen is very sensitive to the presence of alcohol. Q.E.D. alcohol saliva screen is intended as a fast alcohol screen to positively identify the presence of alcohol in saliva for blood alcohol concentration (BAC). Q.E.D. alcohol saliva screen requires no special training provided that the instructions are followed carefully. Q.E.D. A150 Oral Saliva Screen is a simple one-step saliva screen that works in a clean, non-invasive manner and provides results in minutes. Simply wet the screening pad with saliva and wait 4 minutes. The development of a line on the screen pad at 4 minutes indicates a blood alcohol concentration exceeding 0.145% Blood Alcohol Concentration.
An alcohol screen measures the amount of alcohol (ethanol) in your body. Alcohol is quickly absorbed into the blood and can be measured within minutes of having an alcoholic drink. An alcohol screen is often used to find out whether you are legally drunk or intoxicated. No special preparation is needed before having an alcohol screen. Giving an alcohol screen is quick and easy just remove the wrapper insert the oral swab into the mouth thoroughly wetting the oral swab. Take the oral swab and insert it into the saliva alcohol screen.
The Q.E.D. Alcohol Screen is much less expensive to operate than a breath screen, unless you conduct a very high volume of screens in a central location. By and large, each screen done on saliva instead of breath saves money. Plus, performing two independent screens is more legally defensible on the rare occasion an employee does test positive for alcohol. Because work site screening is considered forensic testing, CLIA regulations do not apply to the Q.E.D. Saliva Alcohol screen. The waived status for the Q.E.D. Saliva Alcohol Screen under CLIA '88 makes screening easier in hospitals, rehabilitation centers and treatment facilities where our screen is used as an in-vitro diagnostic tool. When a Q.E.D. Alcohol Screen result is positive, a dark purple color bar forms within the measurement scale. This color is distinctly darker than the pink or orange color seen as the sample fills the device. The color bar on a positive screen -- the same color seen in the QA Spot -- develops in 2 minutes for the Q.E.D. A150 screen. The Q.E.D. Alcohol screen can be used as an accurate screen in place of blood or breath screens. In clinical trials, saliva alcohol levels measured by the Q.E.D. Oral Saliva Screen demonstrated high correlation to blood analyzed by gas chromatography (r=0.98).
Storing and using Q.E.D. Alcohol screen at room temperature (15-30ºC, 59-86ºF) insures optimal performance and a full shelf life. However, the Q.E.D. Alcohol screen will work fine if exposed to temperatures outside that range for limited periods. We screened the Q.E.D. Oral Saliva Screen device under a wide range of temperatures and storage conditions -- simulating the inside of a vehicle glove box on a hot summer day (about 120ºF) and the lonely cold of North Dakota in January (about 0ºF). In all cases, the screen performed as it should. Before using a Q.E.D. Saliva Alcohol Screen exposed to extreme heat, allow the device to cool to room temperature; if the Q.E.D. Alcohol Screen screening device is exposed to extreme cold, put it into a pocket to warm it up. Q.E.D. Alcohol Saliva Screen for obtaining blood alcohol levels using a saliva sample. Q.E.D.
